Text Formatting

The text formatting tools are accessible from the Component ribbon when you click on a textbox. The text formatting tools are divided thematically into clipboard tools, dynamic text, font, paragraph, and styles.

Clipboard Tools

Apply clipboard tools to dynamic text, including its underlying formula.

  • Dynamic Paste: paste the selected dynamic text, including the underlying logic.
  • Dynamic Cut: cut the selected dynamic text, including the underlying logic.
  • Dynamic Copy: copy the selected dynamic text, including the underlying logic.

Dynamic Text

Create dynamic text that is driven by a user-defined formula and rendered when the report is processed.

  • Dynamic Text: open the Dynamic Text panel to configure a formula for your dynamic text.
  • Highlights: highlight the dynamic text component in the textbox.
  • Empty Strings: show an EMPTY message if the underlying data point is empty.
  • Graphic Text: auto-resize text when the textbox is resized.

Font

  • Type: set the font type.
  • Size: set the font size from the drop-down, or using the increase and decrease font size buttons.
  • Change Letter Case: set the let casing for the text:
    • Sentence case: Capitalize the first letter or each sentence.
    • lowercase: no letters are capitalized.
    • UPPERCASE: CAPITALIZE ALL LETTERS IN THE SELECTED TEXT OR TEXTBOX.
    • Capitalize: Capitalize The First Letter Of Each Word.
  • Background Color: change the textbox color.
  • Border Color: change the textbox border color.
  • Text Emphasis: set the selected text as bold, italics, underlined, display a text shadow, or strikethrough.
  • Letter Spacing: set the spacing between characters in the selected text.
  • Text Background Color: highlight the text.
  • Text Color: change the text color.
  • Clear Format: remove font customizations.
  • Border Width: set the textbox border width.

Paragraph

  • Lists: display the selected textbox or text as a bulleted or numbered list.
  • Indentation: increase or decrease the indentation for the selected text or textbox.
  • Line Spacing: set the space between lines for the selected text or textbox.
  • Columns: set the number of columns in which to display the selected text or textbox.
  • Text Alignment: align text to left, center, right, or justify.
  • Text Direction: set the text direction.
  • Alignment: align the text to the top, middle, or bottom of the text box.

Styles

Open the Styles drop-down (yellow highlight above) to apply a heading style to the selected textbox, or selected text within a textbox.
